New Tamworth player / manager Gary Mills believes only sheer hard work will save the Lambs from relegation, although he doesn't even want to mention the 'R' word.
The former Nottingham Forest star was unveiled at a press conference on Monday night and all were impressed with the former European Cup medal winners. steely determination to save The Lambs. And he even had one eye on a top ten finish.
With 19 games to go, one luxury he hasn't got is time but Mills doesn't intend to waste a second.
Starting with his first league game in charge, Saturday's visit to The Lamb by Havant and Waterlooville Mills and his assistant Darron Gee face 19 cup finals.
11 January 2001 Headline: Lambs choose their new boss.
Tamworth FC have picked the new man who they hope will save them from relegation and lead them into the Conference.
Chairman Bob Andrews confirmed on Wednesday morning that after an afternoon of interviews they had chosen the man they want.
But Andrews refused to name the new boss as the man himself had not been informed or offered the terms of his contract.
That leaves former King's Lynn and Grantham manager Gary Mills, who is still playing for Boston and will take on the Lambs this Saturday in the FA Trophy. So Mills will now be installed as the favourite for the job as he has been seen down the ground with Steve Daly and Gary Birtles also in the running.
