Video proof also in Champions League, plans also for EM 2020

After long hesitation, UEFA has decided to introduce the video proof in the Champions League. From 2019 onwards, the referees in the premier league will be able to communicate with a colleague on screen. If everything goes smoothly, the system will also be used at the European Championships.

Nyon – The video proof is also coming in the premier league: UEFA has abandoned its wait-and-see attitude and will use the technical assistance for referees in the Champions League in the future. From the 2019/2020 season onwards, video referees will assist referees on the pitch with controversial decisions, the European Football Union announced on Thursday after the first part of its Executive Committee meeting in Nyon.

There are also plans to use the technology in the finals of the 2020 European Championship, the Europa League from 2020/21 and the 2021 Nations League Final. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin said that there was confidence that a “stable system” would be in place by the start date in August 2019 to train the impartial.

In contrast to FIFA and the German Football Association, the continental association had so far been hesitant about the video proof. Shortly before the group draw for the current Champions League season in August, Ceferin had already indicated that UEFA would soon follow the FIFA line. “If we are ready, we will use it,” the Slovenian had said about the technology, which is still much discussed in the Bundesliga.

But Ceferin was still sceptical: “It’s not clear enough for me. There were some good decisions at the World Cup, but we have to see how it develops.

After the controversial red card for Cristiano Ronaldo in Juventus Turin’s first group game at FC Valencia, there were many demands for the introduction.

Supercup premiere

The video proof will be used for the first time in a UEFA compulsory match in August 2019 in the Supercup duel between the current Champions League and Europa League winners in Istanbul. The system will then also be used in the playoffs for the group phase. UEFA will make a final decision on the use of the system at a later date. It is still unclear whether there will continue to be goal-line assistants at UEFA matches. Check out Slots Baby Bonus and their promotions!

In contrast to FIFA, which uses the format for tournaments in individual countries such as the 2018 World Cup in Russia, UEFA has to transmit the video signal from numerous countries to the referees. According to the continental association, this is technically much more complicated.

A header hit by Schöpf gave Schalke the first victory

VfB Stuttgart also had reason to cheer for the first time this season. Werder Bremen missed the leap to the top of the standings with a 1:2 victory for the Swabians.

Gelsenkirchen – Schalke 04 has written to the German Bundesliga for the first time in the sixth round. ÖFB team player Alessandro Schöpf scored 1:0 against Mainz on Saturday for the early lead (11th). Stuttgart also scored their first success of the season with a 2:1 win against Werder Bremen, with VfB goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler scoring a curious own goal.

Leipzig won Hoffenheim 2:1 and advanced to sixth place. Nuremberg showed a reaction after the 0:7 in Dortmund and celebrated a 3:0 against Düsseldorf in the rising star duel. Wolfsburg and Mönchengladbach separated 2:2.

The Ötztaler Schöpf was on the spot after a cross by Jewhen Konopljanka. Austria’s former U21 team player Philipp Mwene from Mainz had not been able to prevent the Ukrainian from entering. In addition to Schöpf, striker Guido Burgstaller was also in the starting eleven of the Schalkern team. After the start, the Schalker team continued to play, but they did not want to score a second goal. Mainz once again threw everything forward in the finish, but in distress the Schalkers defended their victory over time. Coach Domenico Tedesco, who had recently been criticised, was able to breathe a sigh of relief after the worst start in the club’s history had been averted.

Bankruptcy for Nagelsmann against Neo-Club Leipzig

In Sinsheim, RB Leipzig prevailed against Hausherr Hoffenheim with the future Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann. At 1:0 by Yussuf Poulsen (53.) Timo Werner did the preparatory work, where he defeated Stefan Posch. The foul whistle did not go off to the annoyance of the Hoffenheim team. Again Poulsen (73.) made the decision for the Leipzig team, where Konrad Laimer, Marcel Sabitzer and Stefan Ilsanker started. Andrej Kramaric’s goal in injury time – Ilsanker had brought down his opponent – came too late for the TSG.

The most curious goal of the day and probably of the season so far was scored in Stuttgart. The 1:1 equaliser for Werder came from a throw-in by the Stuttgart team. Borna Sosa threw towards his goalkeeper, who was however indisposed. He touched the ball, but it rolled into his own goal (68th). Stuttgart scored a second time shortly thereafter. The Bremen players, who had to play for almost an hour after a yellow-red card, slipped out of the Champions League ranks. Bayern coach Kovac remains relaxed after first defeat

While the Bavarians struggled with the exploitation of chances, the Berliners celebrated their first victory against the record champion in almost ten years.

Berlin – Niko Kovac has relaxed his first defeat as coach of Bayern Munich. “I have no negative thoughts,” the Croat explained after the first defeat of Bavaria against Hertha BSC after almost ten years. Basically, he was satisfied with the performance. Only the exploitation of chances criticized the 46-year-old.

“If one loses 0:2 with Bavaria in Berlin, nobody believes one that I am content with the achievement. What’s missing are the goals that we don’t use the multitude of chances. That’s the only thing I have to criticize,” said the former Hertha professional unagitatedly. “I see it very relaxed.

“Not only won, but deservedly won”

Berlin had “not only won, but deserved to win“, as not only Hertha coach Pal Dardai and manager Michael Preetz noted after a game worth seeing. The hosts disenchanted Franck Ribery and Co. with consequence and good organization in the defensive, but also with playful wit in the offensive, which the public had actually expected primarily from the guests.

“We play more football than last year,” Hertha’s young midfield organiser Arne Maier said, outdoing his more prominent opponents. “That’s something great,” cheered ÖFB team player Valentino Lazaro, one of the best on the pitch. Hertha captain Vedad Ibisevic on the penalty kick (23rd minute) and Ondrej Duda (44th / after Lazaro-Assist) with their season goals number four and five ensured the first victory against the Bavarians after nine years and 226 days.

It’s a good thing for us. In the first half we were a bit better. That was almost perfect,” explained Dardai. After the break, his boys would have been “more combative”. Dardais change in the game philosophy to more ball possession, speed and direct combinations shows already after the sixth play day effect: Only one goal was missing, in order to push the large FC Bavaria on Friday evening even from the top of the table. “We are also quite satisfied with the 2-0,” Preetz remarked with a smile. Red Ping Win Casino shows that they have really good product; a stylish design, a wide range of games.

Bavaria lacked final determination

After the rather modest appearance of the Bavarians in his hometown, Kovac braced himself against any pessimism. “Of course you can see the last two games,” said the Munich coach. “I see all nine. And after nine games the first defeat isn’t so bad, even if we have other demands.” As already with the preceding 1:1 against Augsburg, his team in Berlin lacked the last determination in the goal conclusion, but also cleverness in the duels.

Like Kovac, David Alaba also criticised the lack of efficiency. “It’s a factor that we didn’t use the chances. Then you get two goals, and then it gets difficult,” the Austrian analysed.…
